Aspiring members of the association must follow a specific procedure: candidates need to have the professional qualifications required by the Statute, be sponsored by at least three senior members, and will only be admitted after a meticulous review of their documentation by the Probiviri and a final assessment by the Board of Directors.
Individuals who share Italian Yacht Masters association's goals and are committed to
achieving them
can become members.
Eligible candidates must possess one of the following Certificates of Competence:
• Master Mariner (STCW Unlimited)
• Master of Yachts 3000 GT (II/2)
• Master of Yachts 500 GT (II/2)
• Comandante del diporto (Yachts senza alcun limite di stazza)
• Capitano del diporto (Yachts di stazza non superiore a 3000 GT)
For First Officers:
• Chief Mate 3000 GT (STCW II/2)
• Ufficiale del diporto
Written Application: Applicants must submit a
written request to the Board of Directors, providing
evidence of Certificates of Competence, work experience, and letters of recommendation from
three
members. Applications can be submitted via the secretariat or the website.
Document Review: A thorough review of the
documents attached to the application, including
reference checks and the curriculum vitae, is conducted.
Verification by the Probiviri: The three
Probiviri, elected by the members' assembly and in office as
per the bylaws, verify the documents and information's authenticity. They also ensure the
candidate's
honorability. Proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
Decision by the Board of Directors: The
Probiviri communicate the verification results to the IYM
Board of Directors, which decides whether to admit the candidate. A personal interview is not
required
for admission.
Outcome Notification: The Board of Directors
will notify all members of the positive outcome within
15 days of the vote via email.
Payment of Membership Fee: The applicant
acquires membership status upon payment of the
membership fee.
Members must pay the annual membership fee determined by the activity programs.
They must comply with the Statute, the Organic Regulation, and the resolutions of governing
bodies.
They must keep their profile on the IYM website updated with truthful information, responding
promptly
to secretariat emails when requested.
Members are required to adhere to the association's Code of Ethics and comply with all its
provisions.
