Workshop with Fraser Yachts

The maritime industry is in a significant historical phase, facing topics of increasing importance that impact various aspects of yachting management, from environmental sustainability to crew welfare. Aimed at establishing a collaborative approach to address these challenges, the "Protect and Preserve" workshop was organized between Italian Yacht Masters and Fraser Yachts on April 4th at the Cala del Forte marina. The event also featured contributions from representatives of companies actively involved in the nautical industry sector, including the Norwegian Hull Club, Peninsula, Tethys Research Institute, Tracey Jones Life and BNP Paribas. The goal of the workshop was to facilitate dialogue, share experiences, and chart a course toward more sustainable and responsible maritime practices, addressing key topics such as lithium batteries: risks and management strategies; salvage operations: challenges and solutions; biofuel: a sustainable alternative; crew welfare: improving life onboard; environmental protection: new threats and regulations; financial regulations and new construction; and the protection of cetaceans in the Mediterranean.

IYM  is always sensitive to these topics and promotes the "Steering to green" approach

The "Protect and Preserve" workshop underscored the yachting industry's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the welfare of its workforce and the marine ecosystem. The participation of IYM Captains facilitated the exchange of strategies, and the insights gained from this workshop will undoubtedly play a significant role in their approach to future challenges and decisions.
