Italian Yacht Masters is an Italian association that unites superyacht captains, promoting Italian nautical tradition and offering training and networking opportunities.

Activities

Italian Yacht Masters is a non-profit Italian association, founded in 2013 with the aim of connecting the Italian maritime community, promoting its growth and enhancing the pride and long tradition of Italian navigation, with a particular focus on superyachts. The association provides guidelines and international standards to define and expand the profession of superyacht captains. Italian Yacht Masters promotes the value of the Italian captain in the nautical industry, recognizing the importance of Mediterranean education and sensibility combined with international expertise.

Ambassadors of Made in Italy

The Italian Yacht Masters Association aims to create a strong community that stimulates the sharing of skills and knowledge in an ever-evolving global market. Maintaining a strong and distinct identity, the goal is to free technical skills and know-how from territorial limitations, enabling competition on an international stage. IYM members are ambassadors of "Made in Italy," bringing Italian and Mediterranean culture to the world. They are not just at the helm of luxury superyachts but also offer unique experiences to their guests, showcasing the natural, historical, archaeological, artistic, and culinary wonders of the Mediterranean.

The Captains’ Association Heritage

Italian Yacht Masters was founded in 2013 by Captain Gino Battaglia (current IYM president) and Captain Maurizio Capitani (current vice president) , along with a group of around ten other captains. Their shared vision resulted in the establishment of essential guidelines, a statute, and a code of ethics for the profession. Among the founding captains, we also fondly remember Fabio Boccardi, who actively contributed to the formation and growth of the association. Sadly, he passed away prematurely, and in his memory, we dedicate this historic image from the association’s early days.
