Captains’ Experience

On February 22nd and 23rd, the second edition of the Captains’ Experience took place. Created by Giorgio Besenzoni and Filippo Rossi, it involved a delegation of 13 captains from IYM. Besenzoni is a family-run company established in 1967, that holds a deep-rooted identity connection with the Lake Iseo area, where it serves as a pivotal entity in the local production network, significantly contributing to resources and workforce involvement. It stands as well as a globally recognized Italian brand in the nautical components industry, consistently aligning with the evolving needs and desires of those who navigate the waters.

The two-day event began with a focus on introducing the company and visiting the production lines. This provided a unique opportunity for a dialogue between tradition and innovation, aimed at consistently delivering high-quality products that embody the values of Made in Italy. The craftsmanship in Besenzoni’s design technology was widely admired, particularly evident in its range of products facilitating onboard movement for superyachts. Notable examples include the “Passerella” gangways showcased at Boot Düsseldorf and its recent developments in fully electric applications, showcasing this excellence. The afternoon roundtable discussion with the contribution from Andrea Pezzini, on the needs of superyacht owners and crews provided an opportunity for dialogue focused on improvements in sustainability and safety. The second day's visit to the Ca del Bosco wineries offered another example of local excellence from the Franciacorta region. IYM extends its gratitude to Besenzoni for providing this enriching experience to the participating delegates.
