IYM at Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform Experience

Exciting highlights from the first edition of IPS Professional Platform Experience in Sweden, held from May 15th to 18th, were IYM Captains Manuel Mariotti,Pietro Borgo, Paolo Bozzo Costa, Roberto Cuomo, Rosario Fortuna, Ugo Polleschi and Massimo Solari, embarked on an immersive unveiling experience of Volvo Penta's marine IPS Professional Platform propulsion technology. Led by Nicola Pomi and Cristina Fagioli, IYM representatives explored Volvo Group's manufacturing expertise during a visit to the Volvo Group factories. The focus was the innovation scheduled for 2025, the new Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform. Propelled by two engines, this platform offers a powerful and adaptable solution for professional vessels and superyachts ranging from 25 to 55+ meters, with speeds ranging from 12 to 40 knots. With its efficient power delivery system, the enables the utilization of various energy sources, from renewables to fully electric or hybrid setups, enhancing sustainability efforts. The new IPS Professional Platform, with its fully integrated system from the steering/throttle to the propeller, offers great updates for the yachting market segment, such as Dynamic Position and Docking Assistants. The experience culminated with a test facility aboard the Volvo Penta 40 Ferry, where IYM representatives, the first ever to test it in navigation, gained firsthand insights into the meticulous production processes of the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform System. Coming soon with hybrid and electric propulsion options, Volvo Penta's IPS Professional Platform solutions represent the ultimate technology, involving not only propulsion but also various engineering aspects, positively impacting navigation performance and maneuverability.
